ANGLE Technology Strengthens US Management Team

DeSantis and Smith Named

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA, April 13, 2006 — ANGLE Technology Group, an international venture management and consulting company that specializes in the commercialization of technology, today announced the addition of two industry veterans to its U.S. management team.

Mark F. DeSantis has been named Managing Director, Consulting and Management. Lisa S. Smith comes on as Vice President of Marketing. A strategic move by ANGLE Technology, these two new management positions reflect the company’s continued growth and momentum in the U.S.

DeSantis' background is a combination of business consulting, management, entrepreneurism and public policy. In his role as Managing Director of Consulting and Management, DeSantis will direct the operation and continued growth of ANGLE's U.S. consulting and management activities. He has founded or co-founded several companies, and currently serves as advisor to several tech-based starts-ups and mid-size companies. He also held public policy positions in the U.S. Federal government, including serving as a Senior Policy Analyst in both the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and the U.S. Department of Commerce in the first Bush Administration.

Previously, he served as Director of Government Relations for Texas Instruments, Inc. and on the staff of the late U.S. Senator John Heinz of Pennsylvania. He also worked at the international consulting firm, Booz, Allen and Hamilton. DeSantis is an adjunct professor at Carnegie Mellon University and a Lecturer at the Katz School of Business at the University of Pittsburg, as well as the Tuck School at Dartmouth. DeSantis holds a BA and MBA from the University of Dayton; an MS in Technology Management from the American University and a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Economics from George Mason University.

Smith has broad experience in technology-based economic development. Her expertise includes business incubator program planning, development and management, plus strategic marketing, public relations, and international technology business development. As Vice President of Marketing, Smith will direct ANGLE's marketing, promotion and media activities.

Prior to joining ANGLE Technology, she was Founder and Vice President of the Scottish Technology and Research (STAR) Center in Herndon, VA — a technology business incubator which was part of a network of incubators in the U.S. operated by Scottish Enterprise, Scotland's economic development agency. She also was formerly Vice President of the Washington Airports Task Force, which promotes air service and cargo development at Washington's Dulles International and Regan National Airports. She has served on the boards of numerous economic development organizations and incubators in the Greater Washington area. She has authored articles on business incubation and technology-based economic development. Smith has a Bachelor's degree from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service and a Master's degree in Business from American University's Kogod School of Business.
