NeuroTargets Ltd   www.neurotargets.co.uk

Founded by ANGLE Technology in December 1999, NeuroTargets discovers and develops new drugs for neurological diseases. The Company has developed a highly efficient, patented technology for discovering novel and rarely expressed genes which are involved in the pathways of pain perception and nerve repair.

NeuroTargets has discovered a number of promising drug targets and is investigating their role in pain and nerve repair in the peripheral nervous system. In addition, the Company is building gene libraries for a range of neurological diseases, which it intends to exploit for both its internal, proprietary drug pipeline and in partnership with pharmaceutical companies.

The Company is currently focusing on three disease areas with major global markets:
  • Neuropathy
  • Neuropathic pain
  • Inflammatory pain

NeuroTargets lead development candidate, a second galanin receptor sub-type agonist (Gal R2), has been validated as a means to treat traumatic nerve injury and by extension, neuropathy, which are both associated with the development of neuropathic pain conditions. The Company is currently exploring the potential to deliver the agonist via a depot formulation and intends to begin preclinical trials in the near future. The Company has also discovered a chemokine receptor which it has validated for neuropathic pain, and intends to begin screening against the receptor to generate compounds to take into preclinical development.

NeuroTargets technology is derived from its joint venture with the University of Bristol, through its internationally renowned biotechnology faculty.
